What Not to Do

Does anyone know what you do NOT do when you go to pick fruit and then plan on preserving it the next day? I now know from experience you do NOT want to sprain your ankle. You may also want to avoid attempting to climb pear trees, which then may cause you to slip, which then may result in your foot landing in a ditch, which may result in a sprained ankle. Not saying I know anything about that but you would probably want to avoid such behavior.

A sprained ankle can really mess up your plans. It really slows you up when walking which then makes you not want to go the store for a soda because you don't want to gimp around the store. Gimping around the house isn't so bad but the longer you do that, the more swollen your ankle/foot becomes even if you use the compression wrap your friend loans you (thanks A1), ice it, and take ibuprofen.

So now that you know what not to do you can safely go pick fruit.

Here are my plans if I can get my ankle under control. Yesterday I picked half bushel of peaches, half bushel of pears, and a half bushel of plums so I need to work on getting them all preserved (not canned because as stated previously I don't have the materials for that and I don't really want to). I also purchased a 20 lb banana squash, 2 big spaghetti squash, 2 acorn squash, and 2 butternut squash that I need to clean and figure out what I am going to do with. AND Cooking W. gave me a bag of Amish friendship bread starter that I need to make some bread or something with. I plan on keeping the starter going and trying different recipes I have found (cornbread, pancakes, etc.). If anyone wants some starter, let me know, I will be happy to share.

Have a great day! I may be back later.
